Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Getting a speeding ticket while driving with a expired license

My license expired on 8/16/06. Since I can't take anytime off from work, I was going to go to the DMV on Sat. 8/19 to renew (which I did today). On 8/18 I was driving on 66 West and a cop pulled me over for speeding. It was 55 mile zone and he claims I was going 75. He kept my license because it was expired and wrote a speeding ticket that I had to sign. He also asked for my boyfriend's license. He gave back my registration and my boyfriend's license and said that my boyfriend had to dirve since at this point I had no license. He then went back to his car and I kept waiting for him to come back and give me a copy of the ticket, but he just pull off and left. What do I do since I don't have the ticket but I know he wrote me a ticket that singed...what's my right? Also, I have -11 points so if I get one more point my license will be suspended...my job requires that I drive; if I can't drive than I will be fired...if the ticket counts against me what can I do to keep my driving privilage?

Re: Getting a speeding ticket while driving with a expired license

Call the clerk of the traffic court which would have jurisdiction over the matter and see whether

your ticket can be verified.

If the ticket is confirmed I would suggest that you hire a lawyer to represent you in this manner who may be able to get at least one of the charges(if brought) dismissed which could include NVOL(NO Valid Operator's License)and then, perhaps, the speeding charge reduced.
