Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

Rights of Survivorship

My mother & step-father died on the same day of this year. The time of death was within 3 minutes of one another, with it being ruled a murder/suicide at the hands of my step-father. Their residence is deeded as joint tenancy as husband & wife, with Rights of Survivorship. If this is a murder, then his estate cannot benefit from an unlawful act, correct? And if so, do that mean that the entire value of the house goes into her estate, or at least half of it??? Please advise.

Sincerely,

Ron Petrie
