Dear Sir:

Unless your post traumatic stress disorder is a result of a sudden fright or shock at work, it will not be covered under Virginia Workers Compensation law. An example of a sudden shock would be a rescue worker who comes upon a scene involving multiple dead bodies.

Job stress alone is not covered by Virginia workers' compensation even when it is as serious as PTSD. There must have been some single precipitating event which was either an injury which produced PTSD or an event which was so sudden and shocking as to cause an immediate psychological result.
