Legal Question in Technology Law in Washington

Limit of liability for content on a web site

Hello,

I am about to launch a non-profit rating site for independent contractors so that they can rate all of the recruiting firms as well as their individual recruiters out there (hall kinion, etc). I just

know that the issues of libel and defimation are going to come up and after reading all of the legal rulings out there on this subject and the

internet, it still seems unclear whether I will be subject to lawsuits.

In fact, I'm positive that the recruiter firms will try to silence me but this is something that will add great value to the net since many recruiters are

borderline unethical.

Will standard indemification, limit of liability

and other such statements protect me from being

sued? If the courst rule that ISP's are not

responsible for the content on their sites what

about individuals who run their own web sites?

Thanks,

Re: Limit of liability for content on a web site

the law does allow a defamation suit to be filed against someone who repeats the defamatory matter. you might want to incorporate and have the corporation own the board to protect yourself.
