seized PC

i had a friend pass away in my house from a methadone overdose. when the sheriff came they seized my PC to investigate. i was wondering how long it is suppose to take to get my property returned? its been almost a month and i haven't heard anything back from the sheriff's office. so in all i want to know how long should it take to get my property back?

You've left out important information. Did the police have a warrant to seize your computer. If not you can demand it be returned now. If they have a warrant then it becomes a reasonable time. What county did this happen in. Some counties have good computer forensic resources internally and others send them off to the WSP lab.
