Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

How can I reduce a 2nd deg burg to trespassing?

Im 19yrs old. I was inside a building and cops caught me inside and saw a bag and said I intended to steal it. I didn't break in, the door was open. They took me to jail and was there 3days until being released to my parents for supervised release. I was given a court attorney.

I have never been in trouble with the law before and was told I could reduce this change to trespassing and get a minimal sentence/time served.

I am given only minimal hope by my attorney, is there ANYTHING I can do? It is incredibly important (I have to leave the country in mid June for surgery)

The ways to get a charge reduced are too numerous for this forum and too fact specific to talk about your case. If your attorney cannot answer that question for you than you need to answer a new attorney. I know a lawyer is expensive but a criminal charge can radically alter your life for the worse and, in your case, interfere with your surgery. Contact me directly if you'd like further assistance.
