Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Washington

fair financial settlement

One year ago I was sexually harrased. I trusted the company to investigate. Shortly after I was retaliated against by the harasser and one other individual. The company strung me along while the retaliation continued. May of this year I found the company hadn't done a thing. I filed an EEOC claim which will go to court in September. The company is willing to settle out of court. The stress has caused me many health problems. For 10 months I've been internally bleeding in my upper GI. What is a fair financial settlement to ask for? What do I base my numbers on? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Re: fair financial settlement

As I tell everyone facing ths issue: do not sign without consulting a lawyer. Sure, they want to settle: big deal. If you are experiencing health problems, you need medical backup for any claim you make EVEN THOUGH you're looking at possible settlement. They just want to know whether it's worth their while to pay a lawyer to fight you, so what you need to do is consult a local lawyer who has taken cases like yours to TRIAL and see what she thinks about your facts and recovery. Go it alone and you're not going to get the best deal.
