Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

divorce

I have filed for divorce and am paying fro rent and some supplies without any requirements from court. She will not tell me how long she will need help and her attorney has made no length of time she will need help. Is there a length of time she has to sign the divorce papers or can she just continue waiting to sign and my paying without end?

Re: divorce

From the date the petition is filed and served there is a mandatory 90 day waiting period. That is the minimum amount of time you have to wait.

The court will assign you a trial date, which will probably be a year or so out. If that trial date does not get continued, your trial will conclude the dissolution action.

The Court will appreciate your voluntarily providing support. That makes you look good.

If you want to get this resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible, you need to lawyer up.

Don't hesitate to call for a referral (I am too busy to take on new cases right now).

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
