Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

youth living alone

I am 16 years old, and i live in washington state. I want to move out of my house, and i am wondering if that is legal in my state.

Until you are 18 or emancipated, you are a minor subject to the control of your parents.

Practically speaking, most police agencies do not have the time to go look for older "runaways" who voluntarily leave their homes and there are no indication of other legal problems.

If you are still in school, have you tried speaking with someone in the school? Perhaps someone will be able to help you (such as by talking with your parents).

Do you have other relatives? Perhaps they can intervene.
