Legal Question in Personal Injury in Washington

Juvenile Injury. Research similar cases toward settlement?

My son got his left big toe cut off by my mother's lawn mower and we have filed a claim against her homeowner's insurance. How can I research similar cases for myself, instead of leaving it up to the insurance company or having to actually hire a lawyer? A guardian ad litem will be appointed automatically, but I'd like my own resources too in determining a fair settlement for pain and suffering, etc.

Damages for Lost Big Toe

Go to a law library and look up Northwest Personal Injury Litigation Reports. This should help you with "comparables". In addition, you will probably need to talk to experts to determine the effect of losing a big toe. I'd start with the doctor and a physical or occupational therapist.

Feel free to call if you find you would rather have an attorney handle it.
