Re: Land Patent

Land patents are usually creatures of federal statute and as such, are subject to various restictions and regulations. I am not aware of any land patent rights available here in Washington State at this time. If you know of any such rights, please e-mail me regarding such rights.

Re: Land Patent

I dont pretend to know all of the intricacies of obtaining a land patent, but as the pervious answer correctly indicates, land patent claims are exclusively matters of Federal law. The United States Bureau of Land Management handles land patent claims and to obtain one, you deal with them.

That said if youre reading a process for getting land patented by a particular state government, its possible youre looking at something different. Most states law does mention land patents, but only when it comes to filing them with the county auditor, gifting them by will, or having them be subject to eminent domain.

I will say that most people will never need a land patient and the warrant deeds they have to the owned properties are good enough. I question whether this is really something worthwhile for you to pursue.
