Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Washington

WA. real estate

Last night (friday) I sighned a real estate construction contract and wrote a $1700. non refundable check to start processing. After reading it more closely, its very binding, so more things need to be agreed upon in writing, that are now just verbal, before moving forward. Can I put a stop payment on this check, till details are worked out, and if they can't be worked out, can I back out without penalty or payment. Its now saturday morning.---Jerry

Re: WA. real estate

I'd have to see the contract you signed to see what your rights and duties are under the contract. Sorry, your question is very fact specific and the contract is the starting point for it all.

If the contract is incomplete, meaning it is missing material terms, which are terms such as time, place, price, and identification of parties, to name a few, then it is possible the contract may be unenforceable. I'd need to know what parts you refer to that are verbal and still need to be put in writing.

If you want to do a telephone consultation today, shoot me an e-mail and I'll call you back and we can arrange something for today.
