Re: driver license vs. driving privelege

Although the applicable statutes refer to drivers' licenses as being suspended, revoked or canceled, it is your driving privilege that has been suspended. A valid driver's license is essentially proof that there are no suspensions, revocations or cancelations in effect.

A driver is required to carry a valid operator's license on his/her person when operating a motor vehicle.

Note that it is a crime to fail or refuse to surrender a driver's license that has been suspended, revoked or canceled.
