Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Can she get the money?

A female friend of mine was told that she had been left some insurance money from her fiance' who recently died. Problem is that he put down her first name with ''his'' last name on the paperwork. Although they were never legally married, they did live together for over 6 years. The insurance company is requesting a death certificate and a marriage certificate. Is she still entitled to the money without a marriage certificate? Her first name is so unusual that it could be considered ''one of a kind''. (Altagraciela)

Re: Can she get the money?

Interesting question. I think she should be able to get the money. But it might involve more than merely requesting including, including a possible probate. She should probably contact a probate attorney to assist her.
