My father died and in trying to take care of issurance and other issues, companies are asking for me to have power of attorney because I am representing my mother who does not speak english well. What type of power of attorney do I need to help her through these issues?

Re: Power of Attorney

You need a durable power of attorney for financial matters. She may wish to set you up with one for medical decisions as well if she wants you to make those on her behalf. The issue becomes whether she understand the English power of attorney when she doesn't understand English. It depends on how thorough you wish to be in executing the Durable Power of Attorney. The easy and cheap way to deal with this is to go to a local legal forms store, buy a standard Durable Power of Attorney and have it notarized at the Bank. I could draft you a specialized POA if you have specific needs or would just prefer the assistance of an attorney. I'd charge $150. If you have other questions please contact me below.
