Collecting on a Unsecured Promissory Note

I have a notarized promissory note in the amount of $200,000 and have not been paid the monthly payments of $500 per month since the Spring of 2007. What is the best way to attempt to collect some of this money?

Re: Collecting on a Unsecured Promissory Note

Assuming you have demanded payment and not gotten it, and assuming that the debtor owns something worth going after (or may in the future inherit or otherwise get something worth going after) you should sue him or her in the Circuit Court of the County where the note was made or in which he or she lives. If he or she has wages, you could attach them on a proper judgment, also. John Yeager, Jr., Attorney at Law
