Legal Question in Immigration Law in Wisconsin

Adjustment of status

I married a U.S. CITIZEN and came to this country as a conditional permanent resident in august 2005.I am supposed to file for adjustment of status within 90days precceding the second anniversary of my arrival which is august 2007. My green card expires in august 2007.Can I make a visit outside the U.S. and come back before the expiry of my green card ? What is position regarding work and travel after my green card expires and before I get a permanent one?

Re: Adjustment of status

Please avoid all travel during this transition phase. With respect to employment, you are permitted to work for up to thirty days after the expiry of your conditional green card and/or employment auth. without encountering and problems from immigration.

Re: Adjustment of status

You are not adjusting status. You are just removing a condition. Until your condition is removed or denied you are in a lawful permanent resident status. This means you may travel freely at any time. However, after you submit your I-751 you may be called for an interview, or may be requested to submit more documentation, etc. Therefore, it is recommended not to leave the country while your I-751 is pending.
