judgement

can a person file bankruptsy on a pre-exiting judgement. he was ordered to pay judgement within 30 days. then filed for

bankruptsy 60 day after the judgement. does he still owe the

person for this judgement?

It depends largely on the nature of the judgment as to whether it would survive discharge of the debtor. Another factor the Trustee will consider is the overall financial picture of the debtor. Yet another factor is the type of bankruptcy applied for. And, should the court find the debtor is taking bankruptcy solely to escape this one judgment, it could recommend rejection of the case and the Court might dismiss it.
