Patrick told you how to REGISTER your copyright in a book you've written. And I'm sure that's what you wanted to know.

But he failed to mention that even without REGISTERING your copyright, you automatically have a copyright in any work of authorship that you create and print out or save to a relatively permanent format (e.g. a diskette).

It is rather desirable to register one's copyright to get some added remedies, but the copyright springs into existence automatically as soon as you "fix" your authorship in a "tangible medium of expression."

I presume you are the original author of the book and it was written soley by you. If so, you can go to the Library of Congress web site, http://www.loc.gov/copyright and download their form for literary works. Complete the form with the requsite fee and send to the Library of Congress with the number of copies that are required for this class.
