my demand draft is get expired since a year can i ask the bank to back my money or how

Dear Sir / Madam,
If the bank has failed to pay the payee named in the demand draft, the onus is on the bank to return back the monies to you by crediting your A/c with the value of the draft by deducting the bank's charges.
