Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Hi all,

One of my friend given money to one unknown person to appear on his behalf in a govt exam held in delhi center. That person got caught while cheating with phone in exam hall & principle called 100 and he is under arrest...He gone to exam hall with original documents of my friend and now delhi police submitted case and documents with the court...Money taken by that person returned by their relatives...

I want advice on maximum punishment my friend can get in this case...Can he get away with only fine or must have to serve some term jail....Also how much time will this process take as he is working in a pvt company in delhi... My friend has learnt a lesson, ready to say sorry and will never do such thing in life..he never thought all this can happen but done all this because he is trying for govt job from last 5 years and not getting selected and he has no other criminal record....
