Legal Question in Family Law in India

A friend of mine was committed to a love affair since her college days and have exchanged letters gifts during the love period. But now she has decided to move out of that relationship due to his change in character and she has not been in touch with her for the past 2 years.
However the guy continues to message her, her family members and friends in differnet context to each of them and is claiming her as her wife since they are married. But that is not true he tries to blackmail her of her past days with him
please advise how to tackle this situation? Whould it be wise to file a complaint against him to police?
