Legal Question in Family Law in

Removing parental rights.

I am wanting to find out if it is possible to remove a parent's rights. I have a current court order stating that i have full custody of my son but joint guardianship. I wish to have it made so that i have all the rights and if anything happened to me my son would go to my parents not his father. His father has not been a part of his life in 15 months except for child support for the last 3 months! Is there anything I can do?

Re: Removing parental rights.

In Ohio, whenever a party is granted custody by the Juvenile Court, Domestic Relations Court or Probate Court, the custody is always "temporary" in that the natural parents still retain residual rights of visitation, the right to petition for custody, etc.

the fact that he provides support is a considered an involvment that will prevent ultimately cutting off his rights without consent in an adoption proceeding. I don't think, given your facts there is a whole lot you can do about that.
