Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

Vehicle Sale

How is one to go about getting owed money for a car sold to a friend that was to make payments via verbal agreement, but then abruptly stopped due to a job loss? The friend has since gotten a job, but has not made any legal transfer of title and/or tag of the vehicle in question. Please point me in the right direction.

Re: Vehicle Sale

You do not have to have a written contract prove a valid contract exists between you and your friend. To collect against your friend, you will first need to obtain a judgement against him/her. Depending on the amount of debt you claim is owed to you, you may want to sue your friend in District Court in the county where the agreement was entered or where your friend resides.
