Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama

Statute of Limitations

I received a letter in the mail recently from the district attorney in montgomery alabama stating that I have a worthless check with them that needs to be taken care of. I called them cause Ive not been in alabama for 8 years. They stated that the check was from 1/92. They said it was put in a box with other items and pushed to the back of a room and forgotten until now. What I want to know is am I still legally obligated to pay this after 11 years? Is there a statute of limitations on how long before they cant prosecute anymore? If there is then what would I have to do to take care of this since the letter says they may issue a warrant for my arrest? Thank you!
