Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

I have a 13 year old son in another state with his mother. I've supported him all his life with biweekly allotments. I spend about 2 months a year with him. My son now wants to live with me and I want him with me as well. The mother do not want to give him up. My finacial support is not forced through the state or anyone else. My question is what are my chances of getting my son at the age his is now ?and how can I go about getting him ? Im single with a house and my income is much greater than the mother who is recieving government assistance.

Your chances are not too good. Is your name on the birth certificate, or were you married? Are there any allegations against the mother for failure to provide proper care to the child? Any substance abuse? Any domestic violence in the home?
