Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Changing a judges orders

My sister who has made some really bad choices in men over the years, thought (at 56) she had found Mr. Right. She gave up a newly found livelyhood and moved to Alabama with him. He had a 6 month job there, which turned into a year.

They bought a house, when the job was finished he left her in AL and came back to CA.Over the next 1 1/2years,he began treating her terribly, stopped answering her calls nor would he call her. When they did speak he was cruel. He told her he would ruin her.He has.He told her to sell the house. She had to pack up everthing by herself. The day before she was to leave to come back to CA he served her with Divorce papers. He filed in AL knowing they would both be living in CA.The attorney she got in Huntsville would not speak to her on the phone or give any guidance whatsoever. When they went before the judge she(female atty) did/said nothing to help. My sister got royaly screwed. Now she received a letter from her ex-saying that he was going to do other then what the judge ordered. She's been trying to reach her attorney for weeks. She needs help desperately. I told her that she could have done more by herself. But it's to late for that.I told her to fax a copy of the letter to the judge/atty. What else?

Re: Changing a judges orders

Is she currently still in Huntsville? If the ex refuses to obey the judge's orders, he is guilty of contempt of court, and can be jailed theoretically. She needs to file a "Rule Nisi" with the court in her county. Also, she needs to fire her current lawyer and get another one.
