Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Custody Change and Child Support

I live in Washington, my ex in Alabama. Our 14 year old is going to live with him. We have 2 kids together and he is over 15,000.00 in arrears for child support. If he goes on public assistance when my child goes there will I be required by the state of Alabama to pay them back for caring for her even if he agrees to no child support since he is so behind and I still have our other child in my custody. I dont know if it is pertinent but I am not on public assistance and have not been for many years.

Not sure what position the State would take in a situation like this. You might try calling Investigation and Recovery legal dept. at 251-415-7060 and see if they will give you some help.

good luck.
