Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Custody Issues

My girlfriend--name removed--daughter which she has full custody of has had problems with her ex boyfriend. They have a 13 year old daughter together. His family has once put legal action on her and caused her to go to jail and loose her kids. She has gotten them back and after two years has decided to move out of state. I want/need to know how to cover her to make sure he doesn't have any means possible of ever getting ahold of her daughter.

He is the worst excuse of a father and I don't want them to go through it again. I need some advice on how to make sure everything is in order and my girlfriend can move on with her life.

I thought with her having legal custody there isn't much he is capable of. Can someone give advice please?

Re: Custody Issues

Unless his parental rights have been terminated, the father (ex-boyfriend) has a right to see his daughter and this is probably provided for (visitation) to some extent in a court order. For you and/or your girlfriend to hide from him and deny him knowledge of your whereabouts may place you in contempt of court. If he's that bad or places his daughter's life in danger, there are grounds to have his parental rights terminated and permanently remove him from the equation. Until that day, notwithstanding how bad he may be, your girlfriend has both a moral and legal duty to work with the dad in providing him reasonable access to his children.
