Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

How long can he put it off!!!

I left my husband 3 months ago. My attorney filed for the production of documents at the end of may and a motion to compel on the documents the first of august. He has not produced any of the documents. How long does he have. Isn't there some illegal actions to withholding this information? And if so, how long? I have ask my lawyer how long he can delay this and all he says if ''seemingly on and on''.My husband is very wealthy and has kept control of me for 22 years. Why does it seem that he has not lost a thing and i am having to live with someone else because i can not afford a place of my own? He never let me know any of the financial information. I left him because of verbal and physical abuse.

Thank you

jr

Re: How long can he put it off!!!

Well, technically,he has 30 days to produce them. If he doesn't a motion to compel is in order, if the motion is ignored, then the atty should file for sanctions.

Tell your attorney that you want him to file for sanctions. If he doesn't want to, you might want to find another attorney.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and God Bless.
