Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

I have paid child support for 16 years. Mom abusive. Police were called the first time when the child was 7. She was removed from the home at age 16. I was not notified for 6 months after court took custody. They said they could not find me, but they were getting my check every month. Did I only have the right to pay? do I have a law suit against the court system or her Mother?

You should see an attorney. The court is not responsible for keeping up with you. You need to make sure that a court has a current address for you anytime you are involved in something like this. That's your responsibility. You have to keep paying child support for your child no matter who has custody of her. Talk to a lawyer and let that person tell you what your rights are. You don't get to stop supporting your child because she was placed in foster care because she was taken away from mom.
