Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

My friend's daughter worked for a large clothing store chain. She took some money in returns. She was caught and the chain prosecuted her. She was arrested and her mother posted bond, about $80. Her court date is this March. She is banned from ever going into the store again. She has never done anything illegal before. She was in a tight spot financially with her bills and her and her friend both took the money. She got a new job working for another retail store in town. Her dad called the store she took the money from and asked to speak with the manager to get the details on the incident, but the manager told him that company policy would not let him talk about it. Another manager came into the store that my friends daughter works at. She over heard her talking and texting the other manager back at the store she had worked at to let them know that my friends daughter now works there. Also, one of her friends that still works at the store told my friends daughter that the managers were talking to each other about her and making fun of her and saying that she will probably still from this new store also. Her friend called her back and told her that they where talking about her and the incident. She was a good employee and always worked over. She just made a bad choice. My question is, are the managers and other employees suppose to be talking about my friends daughter and the incident even making fun of her?
