Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

Small claims court filing

I won custody of my child in an Indiana court, and after a two and a half year court battle, the losing party decided to appeal the case in Alabama. I needed to hire an Alabama attorney, while also discussing the case with my Indiana attorney. The judge in AL dismissed the case with prejudice due to lack of jurisdiction, but this ''case'' cost me quite a bit of extra money, which is why the case was filed. Can I file a case with small claims court to recover some of the money? If so, which state do I do that in, and what is the statute of limitations for filing such?

Re: Small claims court filing

File a petition with the original court in Indiana for attorney fees. Alabama has no jurisdiction per the court's ruling. The Indiana retains jusidiction until the child turns 18.
