Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

Tired of this and want to know if i can do anything

My girlfreinds ex left her a message on on a website where you can leave messages for members that everyone can read, and in the message he said ''Frank said you were in Tuscaloosa with DickFace....'' He was referring to her grandfather telling him she was here with me and i know he refers to me like that or some other similiar name all the time and I am tired of it and want to know if i can do anything about it. He has a general lack of respect for everyone and he needs to learn to give others respect like he thinks he should get from others

thanks for any advice

No. And don't try to. He may be annoying and disprespectful, but you have no legal rights to sue him for defamation for calling you an epithet. Furthermore, do not take the law into your own hands to "teach" him a lesson. That will lead to criminal charges being filed against you, make you really look like a "dickface" and probably cause your girlfriend to dump you and go back to him. Girls tend not to like incarcerated felons. (well most nice girls anyways)

Bottom line, though is that unless he starts saying things specific about you or your behavior, such as stating that you are a convicted felon, stating that he saw you having sex with Michael Jackson or something else that is clearly a factual averment that is false, you have no claim for lible or slander.

Just remember that when people go around calling other people "dickface" and what not, they are really showing themselves to be the true dickface. And most people understand that and see through such infantilism. Let it go.
