Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Labor Lien

Someone subcontracted us to do some tree planting by hand, that was almost three months ago. We have not been paid all we get is the run around we do know that he has been paid by the land owners that hired him to prep the land and plant it. We are owed over forty thousand dollars and we have a signed invoice by the subcontractor stating that he would pay us by the due date but he hasn't. What can we do?

Re: Labor Lien

Sounds like a letter from an attorney may be needed and if that does not produce results, you will probably have to file suit, probably in the county in which the work was performed or where the defendant is located. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this further.

Re: Labor Lien

Assuming you are within the time limitations, you can file a lien on the house where you did the work. You can also send the contractor a demand letter or file suit against him.

The foregoing is general information only, not specific legal advice. No attorney/client relationship has been created or should be implied.
