Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Mothers Estate

My mother recently passed away in Alabama. My sister lived with my father and mother and had taken care of them as they aged. My sister says that my mother put the house in both of there names. I don't know if there is a will. Am I entitled to part of the house?

Re: Mothers Estate

If your mother added your sister to the deed, the home passed to your sister upon your mother's death. You can easily check this at the county courthouse. If the home was never deeded to your sister, then you have a claim to part of the estate. You have a claim anyway to anything else in the estate as an heir and you have a right to know if there was a will or not so I encourage you to contact an attorney in the county where your mother lived.
