All children of a parent are entitled to inherit in Alabama, under the law of intestacy, which is the law that governs how property is passed if the decedent left no Will. That is, birth children and adopted children are treated equally. However, decedent's step-children, do not take under intestacy. You should consult an attorney for specific legal advice in this matter and allow them to assess all the facts. The answer above is limited to how children are treated when a decedent dies intestate.
