Legal Question in Technology Law in Alaska

copywrite laws

I am inquiring about internet copywrite laws. Is it legal to use information from another website if it is not sold for profit and is only being used to benefit the people who use it?

The question is about Real Estate listings on a national website that I would like to put on a local website. If I am not charging the agents or consumer for the information is it illegal to copy the listings from one website and put them on another?

Thank you for your time.

Re: copywrite laws

Publishing copyrighted material in any form is illegal without the permission of the copyright holder. It makes no difference whether or not there are monetary charges involved.

What you propose is not legally advisable unless you are quite sure there is no copyright infringement by your actions.
