Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Alaska

rental lease

i live in delta junction and i am renting a house for $790 + utilities and fuel for heat.

due to the cold weather my water is always frozen, the heat does not work good enough to keep the house warm enough to stay in with my 8 month old son and girlfriend.is there a way i can break my lease to move to a warm house?

Re: rental lease

You need to obtain adequate heat and water. Get a plumber to fix the water situation (heat tape or insulation) right away.

Re: Heat, buy a space heater for now,(deduct from rent and provide LL receipt) but notify LL that you will cancel lease if they do not remedy situation. Document temps every hour during day (take notes with thermometer)and then give to LL. If not at LEAST 65 degrees F, you may have a case.
