Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Alaska

Biopsy mistake

My son had a kidney biopsy..afterward, instead of recovering in a couple of hours and being able to take him home..he got sicker and sicker. It ended with emergency surgery where his gall bladder had to be removed. It had been poked and leaked all over into his abdomen and had to be removed. Since then, he has had 2 emergency surgeries and 4 stays in the hospital due to bowel obstructions evidently stemming from the original surgery which of course stems from the bad biopsy. Is there any chance of sueing the nephrologist?..I have had more than 1 surgeon tell me that this all is due to the original surgery. Also..I would like to know if there are any attorneys in AK that handle this type of thing. Thank you so much

Re: Biopsy mistake

I believe the accidental perforation of the gall bladder during a biopsy of the kidney is rare and raises question concerning whether the operator was careful. Spillage of bile results in caustic peritonitis. The complications can be severe depending upon how long it took to diasgnose and treat the perforation.
