work&crimanil background checks

during interveiw for the job i had told the employer that i had a crimanil record i had told them what i had done and how much time i had served .Then they hired me on for the job on my first day of work 3 hours into swift the manger told me they had to let me go. Becuase corp. said they couldnt hire me.So they fired me 3 hr into my first day of work. what i would like to know can they do this after they start me on the job .And seocnd is there a state law on how far they can go back into your history becuase this was 11 years ago with no felony's after that so they fired me for something that happenned 11 years ago that they were told about during interview. thanks, ill be waiting for your answer

Unless you are subject to a written employment contract or union agreement, there is nothing you can do. You are an at-will employee and can be terminated for any reason or none at all. It is unfortunate that you were hired before the home office ruled on your prior conviction, but it is not illegal. Although the felony is old, your employer can still take notice of it as it has.
