Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

juvenile aggravated robbery

my 17 yr old son was arrested for aggravated robbery. He was a passenger in the car when another passenger (18 yr old) got out, pushed a 14 yr old boy down and stole his ipod. my son did not get out of the car or assist in any way. he was released to me, there is no paperwork - we were told to wait for a letter from the prosecutor. The driver of the car and the other passenger that committed the robbery were arrested, also charged with aggravated robbery, but they have hearings/court dates scheduled. It is unclear what will happen with my son. Since my son was merely present, will these charges possibly be dropped, or should i hire an attorney for him, or wait for the letter from the prosecutor?

Re: juvenile aggravated robbery

Because of your son's age, it is likely that they will wait until he is 18 and then file charges in adult court. This makes the matter all the more serious. You really should consider hiring counsel to get involved in the case now as it can have a major impact down the road.
