Legal Question in Elder Law in Arizona

I have Full and Medical Power of Attorney of a friend that is in a Group Home on Hospice. I get a call from her hospice nurse that the home was cited by the health department the middle of December for an old insulin bottle from April that was 3/4 full. Insulin once opened is good for 28 days. The Nurse told me because she is on hospice and eats whatever she wants, the lady in charge of the group home was not testing or giving her insulin daily. The Nurse said it was an educational problem with the home and Diabetics. What do I do?

You should take the necessary steps to be sure that your friend's medical needs are completely satisfied and that she is receiving proper care. If not, then move your friend to a facility where her health is being managed properly. That is your duty as her agent under the power of attorney. You may also complain to DHS and/or Adult Protective Services.
