Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

ownership of vehicles?

I am in the middle of a divorce and my mother just purchased a car for me. If it is registered in my name, will it be considered joint property or since the divorce papers have already been filed will it be left out of the divorce case? It can be registered to my Mom or to me but I don't want to risk having to give 50% of it to my soon to be ex. Is there a risk to registering it to me? Do I have to wait until the divorce is final?

Re: ownership of vehicles?

once the divorce is filed and served everything purchased after that date is considered seperate property. To be safe make sure no community money is used to purchase the car... Good luck

Re: ownership of vehicles?

Any property acquired AFTER the initial Petition were served will be considered sole and separate, so long as community funds were not used in the purchase.
