Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

How do I stop paying child support

Divorce was in 1981, 3 children, youngest turned 18 in Aug 1996. I live in Tx. Maricopa County court still charging me with $200 a month in support. I stopped paying in October 95 when mother abandoned the children (left the state without them) and the youngest was put into juvenile detention in Arizona. Now my income tax refunds are being attached for back support. What can I do?

You will have to talk with an Arizona lawyer and try to get a motion to modify. Sounds like soebody in AZ got a judgment against you for past due support. You didn't mention that you received notice. If you didn't receive notice, the judgment could be void. My guess is you will need a lawyer for this or continue to lose your income tax refund. The easy solution is to arrange your taxes so that you have to refund.
