Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona

hostile work environment

Every since day 1 when I started at this company my immediate supervisor has created a hostile environment for me.

I started with two others who were offered permanent positions within weeks I was not offered a permanent position for 6-7 months.

I have been ostracized for the slightest deviation to the dress code and this in spite of other who openly abuse the code.

I have been told that they suspect me of this and that and then nothing. I have been told that I have this or that personality fault by HR with nothing to substantiate it. And now that all else has failed I was called in after over 18 months and told that someone said I smelled. I have worked all over the world in the last 8 years and never have I been in such a hostile environment. I know they want me to leave. I have been passed over, given substandard reviews, etc . . . People in other departments say that I'm great and commend me but not in the department where I work. Though I have looked for work elsewhere I am worried that this supervisor will jepardize my future.

Re: hostile work environment

Whether you have any sort of claim for hostile workplace is going to depend on the reason for the harassment. The only time you would have a claim for hostile workplace is if the person or persons who are harassing you are doing so because of your race, gender, national origin, religion, a disability, or your age. If it is simply a personality conflict that is not related to one of these categories, the legal claim of hostile workplace will not apply.
