tentant landlord problems

gave landlord a deposit of 1300.00. was sechuled to move in on July 1. landlord called us on June 29 stated he wasnt comfortable renting to us. my boyfriend and i both work for az highway patrol state was having budget issues.we went back on July 1 to get a few boxes we had put in the garge and to get our deposit back. landlord gave us a check for only 1000.00 for refund of security deposit he said he was keeping 300.00 for his moving expenses. he had asked us to pay the rent of 1100.00 on june 27 and we didnt have it then. so on the first when we got part of deposit back he said we broke the lease because we didnt have the money on the 27th even though contract says rent is due on the 1st of each month. he also has refused to give us a copy of the lease.

You should go to small claims court and sue the landlord for return of your money.

I would sue this joker in small claims court. You can do this without a lawyer. Get the forms from the Justice Court precinct where the rental property is located or where the landlord has his place of business. You'll have to pay a court filing fee and a process server.
