Legal Question in Insurance Law in Arkansas

Sheriff's office will not give me information on liable person and his insurance

I was in an accident where I was not at fault 12/17/2004 before 6:00am. I did not get the name and insurance of the party at fault since I was a stunned. It is now 12/21 and my husband has tried multiple times to receive the information from our county sheriff and has been rebuffed EVERY time. We have no vehicle, I am in pain, and the offending party was given two tickets. How am I to get the information I need to get back to normal? The offending party has liability.

If there is a police report of the accident, then you should be able to get a copy of the report from the reporting office. They may have not gotten it written up yet, or there may be some other delay, but with tickets issued you definitely should be able to get a copy of the accident report.

Retaining an attorney may be a good idea at this point. A lot of attorneys will take this type of case on a contingency basis, meaning you don't owe anything unless you get paid. An attorney may be able to speed up the process. Plus, the attorney can advise you about whether you need to go to a doctor.

I would act immediately, though. You need to get your injuries documented and you need to get the process of making a claim done immediately.

Another thing, if you have insurance, you may need to report it to them. Even if it's not your fault, you may be need to let them know. That is something else to discuss with your attorney.

If you would like to discuss this further, I offer free initial consultations.
