Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Arkansas

Does he have the right to fire me?

My boss and I have been having an affair for nearly three years. His wife knows of the affair and told him that he must get rid of me. Although he does not necessarily want to end our relationship, he has asked me to look for another job and has offered to keep me on the payroll for up to 1 year and even move me and make my house note until I get on my feet. I told him I'm not interested in leaving my job or in moving. He is now threatening me and told me that I can not remain an employee because it is causing too many problems at home. Can I be fired from my job simply because his wife does not like me. I have no interest in continuing a relationship with him. I need my job to support my family. There is no other place in town where I can make as much money as I do here and being a sigle mother of four, we struggle on the income I have now.

Re: Does he have the right to fire me?

If the company is large enough to be governed by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, then you cannot be fired for this reason.

Your situation is very serious. You need to consult an attorney immediately. Do not hesitate.
