Assuming they was married 3 or more years, the spouse gets one-third. The 4 children would split the other two-thirds, which would be one-sixth per person.

Any property that was in the name of the deceased and spouse would go directly to the spouse, and would not be part of this discussion.

There could be a few other variables, but that is the general way it would be done.
